It is time for a new post from my trip to Bass rock. Today Bass rock is home to more than 150 000 Gannets but this has not been the situation. A few hundred years ago the island were grazed by sheep’s but today there are no grass left at all due to the birds and all the guano. On Bass rock there is a lighthouse, it is not operating any longer. When you land with the boat you have to follow the path up through the light house and up to a little area witch the guide from the Scottish seabird center marks out. This is area and the pathway is where you are allowed to be and photograph from.

At first it seems to be such a small area for ten photographers to be in but it showed out to be sufficient and I managed to get a lot of different pictures of these beautiful birds. Normally the gannets should have had small chicks when I visited the island but due to a late and cold spring the hatching/chicks were at least delayed by two weeks. So unfortunately there were no chicks visible.
