Yesterday I went through some old pictures in the archive and came across these pictures of the Great grey owl. During spring and early summer of 2008 I had the opportunity to meet this lovely owl a couple of times.  These three pictures are from beginning of June. This owl was very friendly and these pictures are taken at a distance of maybe 4-5 meters. I remember that there was another photographer with a 500mm lens and that he carefully tried to back off to get the owl in the frame until he almost fell of the road we were standing on. Since then I have only seen this lovely owl once.

It was sitting on a fence pole looking for water voles, after a few minutes on this pole it flew away to another pole 20-30 meters further away.
