Today I attended a small workshop lead by Mats Wilhem and organized by Biotopia (Uppsala) in ”Stadsskogen”. The assignment for the day was to find a motive in the wood and try to work that motive, find all angles, test different apertures, and work with your lenses to get as many different expressions/pictures as possible.

This was a good exercise since it is so easy to rush when you are out with your camera, at least I know that I tend to do that. You are in a hurry to find a great motive and sometimes you give up and move on to quickly. Today I spent over an hour crawling around just one tiny fern. Below are some of the pictures from today.

I underexposed the pictures to enhance the feeling of beeing in the dark wood.

Aperture f4.5, 1/125th of a sec at 190mm. Underexposed -2 stops.

Aperture f3.2, 1/160th of a sec at 115mm. Underexposed -1 stop.

Aperture f3.2, 1/320th of a sec at 100mm (macro). Underexposed -4 stops and some added greenery in front of the lens.

Aperture f3.2, 1/80th of a sec at 100mm (macro). Underexposed -0,7 stops and some added greenery in front of the lens.

Aperture f5.6, 1/100th of a sec at 400mm. Underexposed -1 stop.
