Yesterday I took a walkabout in the closest we have to a savannah withinn walking distances from where I live. Well it is not a real savannah but rather a some grassland or open area withinn the nature reserve called Hågadalen. I usually see roedeers there and I had not to walk far before I alomost ran into this lovley roebuck. After a looking at each other for a few moments the buck decided to walk into the high grass.

I saw where it went and thought I'd try to sneak up on it for some close-ups. When I was close to were I thought the buck were to be it were nowhere to be seen. I thought it was strange since I walked against the wind and were really careful. I stood there watching when my phone rang, no reaction no buck runnning away. I reallized then that I must have tricked me and sneaked away in the high grass.

Then I saw it just 4-5 meters away laying resting in the grass, they are so well camoflaged. He was so calm tilted his head a bit and looked at me several times, I think I waited at least ten minutes before he heard a barking dog passing by far in the distance then he finaly stod up. I got my close up and then he slowly walked away 10-15 meter and started to eat from a bush. Then I saw another roedeer, sun was getting lower and I wanted to try to get a back lit shot of the roedeer. I had to change position so that roedeer between me and the sun. I got a few shots but it was tricky in the high grass. The best one is shown in the end of this blog post.
